Our abrasive wheel operator training open course is BAF accredited. Conducted at our training centre in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire this half day course covers the safe use of abrasive wheels and is aimed at operatives of all cutting and grinding tools. This includes for instance, petrol cut off saws, angle grinders, chop saws and more.

Our Abrasive Wheel Training Courses comply with the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER 98).

Abrasive Wheel Operator Training Open Course

Training and Testing Services are a BAF accredited abrasive wheel training company. Naturally we conduct on-site Abrasive Wheel Operator Training however, because individuals required training to cover the use of all types of cutting and grinding applications, such as stihl saws, angle grinders, chop saws, bench/pedestal grinders, surface grinders, cylindrical grinders etc.) we therefore offer public courses for 1 or more people.

TTS are proud to be one of only a handful of abrasive wheel training companies in the UK who have been granted accreditation by the British Abrasives Federation.

Abrasive Wheel Operator Training Open Course Content

This course is designed and structured to provide training in the safe use of abrasive wheels and meets with the requirements of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER 98) and covers the following subjects:

  • The Need to Train and Statutory Requirements
  • Characteristics of an Abrasive Wheel and the Types
  • Marking of Abrasive Wheels
  • Speed
  • Hazards and Precautions to be Taken
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Storage & Handling
  • Inspection and Methods of Testing for Damage Abrasive Wheel Machine Components
  • Guarding
  • Dressing & Balancing
  • Specific Mounting Procedures

We tailor all our courses to suit the requirements and industry of each of our customers.

Certification

You will receive a certificate of attendance on completion of the course (which is emailed in a PDF format), as well as an individual training record (to provide proof of training) and a comprehensive set of course notes for each trainee.

Abrasive Wheel Operator Training Open Course Requirements

Our open course is a 1/2 day course for a maximum of 10 trainees and can you can buy 1 or up to a maximum of 10 places per course (subject to availability).

On completion of the course you will receive a BAF accredited certificate of attendance, an individual training record (to provide proof of training) and a comprehensive set of BAF approved course notes for each trainee.

Please note: the current legislation requires that anyone who uses, manages and mounts an abrasive wheel has to be properly trained in the safe use.
