These specialist, full day courses have been developed to provide training to in-house instructors/trainers; enabling them to provide accurate, up-to-date and fully compliant abrasive wheel training to your own staff. Course times: 09:00 to 16:00 (approx). Strict COVID-19 procedures are in place to ensure the safety of our trainees and trainer. During this time individual packed lunches will be provided. Please advise of dietary requirements.

It is aimed at individuals who wish to train their own staff in the safe use of abrasive wheels and incorporates the half day BAF accredited train the operator course.

Included in the course is an instructor pack which contains everything that you need (PowerPoint presentations, handouts, certificate template, training records & more) to run your own abrasive wheel courses.

In brief, the training includes:

To begin with, the first part of the abrasive wheel train the trainer North Yorkshire open course is the normal half day BAF accredited abrasive wheel operator course, during which the trainees will be required to take notes. This course is designed and structured to provide training in the safe use of abrasive wheels and meets with the requirements of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER 98) and covers the following subjects:

  • Marking of Abrasive Wheels
  • Speed
  • Hazards and Precautions to be taken
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Storage & Handling
  • Inspection and Methods of Testing for Damage
  • Abrasive Wheel Machine Components
  • Guarding
  • Dressing & Balancing
  • Specific Mounting Procedures

The second part of the course will involve breaking down the lesson plan, record keeping, practical demonstrations, theory & practical tests.
