Face Fit Testing Train the Trainer
I’ve seen several adverts and been contacted by various companies regarding this course. The truth is, a course like this doesn’t exist. It is not possible to attend a course and become qualified to train others to conduct face fit testing. If there was it certainly wouldn’t be something you can do in half a day.
Training Experience
Unless you are a qualified face fit tester, you would not gain experience attending a one or even half day course to be able to teach others. Face Fit testing is a skill. You would not learn driving and whilst still learning to drive set up a driving school to teach others. You wouldn’t have the experience. The same is said for face fit testing.
The HSE states that face fit testing should be carried out by a competent face fit tester. One way to demonstrate this is to be accredited by fit2fit for face fit testing. This means your face fit testing is assessed by BSIF who run the fit2fit scheme. And you have been able to prove that you can conduct a compliant face fit test. But this is just for face fit testing. This would not deem you competent to teach others.
The key word in any training is experience. On a day-to-day basis our own team are challenged with questions that people experience when face fit testing. Having over a decade of experience means that we can help and advise. Attending a half day course would not give you this knowledge.
Training and Testing Services Course
Our training courses are delivered by an experienced fit2fit accredited tester. We do not sell a train the trainer course. Our course is a train the tester course. We teach you how to conduct face fit testing – compliantly. In addition to this, we are 1 of only 6 companies in the UK who have had both their courses approved by fit2fit. This means our training courses have been independently assessed to ensure that the training we deliver is compliant. We would never be able to furnish a new tester with the skill and knowledge to conduct compliant testing in half a day. As per HSE guidance you must be trained in the 16 points of competence. This is also in addition to the use of the equipment. In addition we offer a mentor service. Trainees receive discount on their fit2fit assessment when they attend one of our training courses.

If you want a face fit testing train the trainer course you need to start from scratch. Attend a fit2fit approved course like ours. This is a perfect stepping stone. Learn the skill. Gain the experience. Look to become fit2fit accredited to conduct face fit testing. Then when you feel ready, write your own training course and achieve fit2fit approval. That way you have done everything necessary to prove your compliance and competence and will ensure you are training people to the correct and relevant standards.
